MUDDY WATERS: PERCY WATERS INTERPRETATIONS

BY MIKEY MONTOYA & DAYTON SKUSE

OPENS DEC 1, 2017

THIS EXHIBITION WILL BE HELD AT THE SAN JOSE WORKSPACE.

34 S. 1ST ST • SJ • CA 95113

The cannon of classic tattoo imagery never goes out of style.  For well over a century the codified emblems have been continuously reinterpreted.  As the images take on new form & meaning they maintain classic status & as such retain relevance over the decades.

In the Muddy Waters exhibition Mikey Montoya & Dayton Skuse explore the rich body of work laid down by Percy Waters (1888-1952) himself a tower in the long lineage of traditional American tattooers.

Their stated goal being not to impress outside audiences but rather to absorb as much of the fundamental magic in the timeless designs of  Percy Waters & therein assimilate the alchemy of forms into their individual practices.

Please join us Dec 1 —8pm for the opening reception for Muddy Waters.
